Recession Having Effects On Charity Shop Sales
Many businesses have found different ways of adapting to the recession, due to low priced goods and second hand designer items people have been more inclined to replace their usual spending on new and more expensive commodities with items in charity shops.
This has also reduced carbon emissions by 3.7 million tonnes last year according to a CRA report, other benefits include more money being put into charitable causes and more volunteering opportunities which will majorly help future employment prospects.
Charity shops play an essential part in funding, especially when people have less disposable income which could lower the likeliness of donations given to charitable causes as they are not seen as a necessity and are often the first thing to be taken out of a person’s budget. The charity shops can help subsidise any losses in donations and even improve the capital put into third sector organisations… meaning greater charitable campaigns and better consumer budgeting!
