Office Manager
Neal has 20 years’ all-round experience in insurance broking, which means he is able to help clients with any insurance queries. He is an expert in the wide field of general insurance, extending from property and liability insurance to more specialist areas, including the export of marine cargo and private plane insurance.
Having been with WRS Insurance since 1990, he is often called on to help established clients with complex renewals.
“A lot of clients stay with us for years because they like the products and they like the service,” explains Neal.
“I like to know the clients are happy with the service. It’s particularly good to know you have helped a charity, whether you have saved them money or helped in some other way such as putting one client in touch with another.”
The ethos of the company and its clients is important to Neal. He is now an active supporter of the charity Autism Anglia, having become aware of its vital work once it became a client.
In his free time, Neal, a keen historian, also enjoys visiting historical properties and working historic railways. |

Steve Baker
New Accounts Executive
Steve brings a wealth of experience in the banking world to WRS Insurance.
“ I meet new clients and talk about their business needs, put together a proposal and then liaise between the client and the insurer to get the best prices,” explains Steve.
He comes to the company after 20 years in banking with High Street bankers and investment bankers.
Steve is positive about the importance of getting the best insurance deals during this difficult economic time.
He says, “It is more important than ever before for clients to review their costs and look at ways of saving money while protecting their assets.”
He appreciates the chance to help them – and enjoys the opportunity to be in a business where he can meet clients face to face.
He is also glad to be based in his Colchester home town after working for many years in the City. He enjoys being able to spend more time with his wife and four young children although his family commitments mean he is not able to spend as much time as he once did supporting his local Colchester United football club. |

Emma Jeffery CII
Commercial and Charity Account Handler
Emma specialises in renewals and adjustments, for charities and commercial clients as well as fleets.
“I enjoy the variety as each client has different needs,” says Emma. She joined WRS Insurance nine years ago, after a year in general insurance.
As well as covering the company’s bespoke insurance packages, Emma’s role includes compliance checks for new business and renewals .
She also underwrites a scheme in which WRS Insurance is recommended by the British Federation of Film Societies as provider of specialist insurance for film societies.
Emma relishes the opportunity to support good causes in her personal, as well as her professional, life.
She has now taken part in the annual Race for Life for Cancer Research UK for the sixth year.
“I started doing the race with my friend and her mum who had survived cancer and now there’s a few of us, including my mum, who do the Race for Life every year.” |

Francesca Waters
Commercial Account Administrator
Francesca is responsible for renewals and adjustments, mainly within the charity sector but she also works with commercial and motor fleet clients.
After working in general insurance, she appreciated the chance to join WRS Insurance Brokers.
“I like working in a more specialised area of insurance and dealing personally with customers. I like to be able to help clients get the right levels of cover for their needs.
After six years in the insurance business, Francesca is now working towards getting the Certificate of Insurance qualification.
She is keen on visiting other countries, having already visited various places. She says, “I like experiencing new cultures, seeing different places and meeting new people.” |

Deborah Akehurst ACII
Claims Handler
Deborah is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute as is the in-house personal claims adviser who is there to help a client through every stage of a claim. She has helped with a wide variety of incidents as she handles claims for charity and commercial clients, as well as administering taxis and taxi fleets.
“I am there to make sure a client’s claim runs smoothly in the event of an incident and to liaise with insurers to make sure the client get the fairest settlement,” she says.
She combines 18 years’ experience in the insurance industry with nine years which she spent as a church administrator.
Deborah was part of the leadership team which established a church plant which she now supports it on a voluntary basis as an active member of the ministry team. Her Christian ethos is a way of life for her in her working as well as her home life.
She says, “It is important to me to work for a company which takes an ethical approach to business and which treats clients in a personal way.”
