You may have set some goals at the beginning of the New Year for your Church to achieve in an attempt to make 2016 even better than the last. One of your goals may be to increase the size of your Church. We have listed a few suggestions below that we hope you find useful.

Spread the word
Quite a number of people may not have visited your Church because they do not know that your Church exists. Evangelism is a great way to meet new people in your community and share the message of your faith. After speaking with an individual, you could politely offer them your number and invite them along to a Sunday service.
It may also be a good idea to run evangelism programmes, such as the Alpha Course, to accommodate non-Christians who are eager to learn more.

Be seen online
With over 1 billion users, social media can be used as an effective tool for growing your Church. The process of joining social media can at times seem overwhelming due to the many different platforms available. However, Facebook is often a good place to start because it is relatively simple to use and you can easily connect with people in your local area.
Once your Facebook page is up and running, you can hold competitions, and encourage your current members to get involved too! Once others see how fun and friendly the Church is, they will want to be a part.

Have an events calendar
Organising events outside of your regular Church service is a great way to meet new people, especially people who for whichever reason may not like attending Church on a Sunday. Each event can be held for a different group of people; for instance, an Easter egg hunt can be organised to attract young children and their parents, or you can host a movie night for couples.
You can incorporate the help of your current members to help brainstorm ideas and organise the event.

Give new guests a warm welcome
A guest’s first impression of your Church will majorly influence whether they will return again. Try to make the process of visiting your Church as simple as possible by considering things such as parking facilities and providing a straightforward registration process for the crèche. You may find it useful to have a ‘welcome’ team whose job it is to meet and greet with newcomers and make sure that they enjoy their time at your Church, from the beginning to the very end.

These are just some ideas that could potentially help grow your Church. We would love to hear your thoughts, or what things have worked for you in the past. WRS are experienced in providing insurance for churches, call us today for any advice you may need.
